Description

Gretchen Reis, M.D. practices anti-aging and preventive medicine at BodyLogicMD of Charlotte, where she helps women and men suffering from menopause, andropause and other hormone imbalances achieve a longer, better life. Using individual, customized wellness programs tailored to address each patient's specific, personal needs, Dr. Reis combines customized nutrition and fitness regimens, pharmaceutical-grade supplements, stress reduction techniques and natural bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) to ensure her patients enjoy restored energy, improved mental clarity and the highest quality of life possible.

Dr. Reis transitioned to functional medicine after becoming disheartened by the limitations of traditional medicine. She wanted to be able to give more to her patients, healing their ailments, rather than just treating them temporarily. She came to discover bioidentical hormone therapy and functional medicine practices through a friend in the field. She witnessed the difference such therapies made in the lives of each patient and even found functional medicine to make a difference in the life of her youngest son, who suffers from autism.

Dr. Reis pursued the practice of functional medicine and soon came to realize practicing medicine can be fun, just as she had always imagined. Today, she is helping her patients be and stay well rather than throwing pills at their every symptom. Her practice emphasizes the prevention of disease and encourages optimal overall health, rather than tackling illness once it has already occurred.

Dr. Reis has four beautiful children, which she adopted with her husband, Bill. She knows what it means to find balance – managing your health, your career and your family. She sets an example for her patients, pursuing her passion for nutrition and taking up running as one of her many hobbies.

Dr. Gretchen Reis received her undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin and completed her Medical degree at Baylor College of Medicine. She completed her residency at Lancaster General Hospital in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, receiving the AMA/Glaxo Leadership Award during her time there. She is currently an active member of the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine and the Institute for Functional Medicine.
