John Abell, MD
“In traditional medicine, physicians are very good at treating disease processes and controlling symptoms of disease. Unfortunately, we weren’t ever taught how to look for the underlying reasons that many of these conditions were taking place. For instance, in menopausal women, where it was once common practice to treat the symptoms of menopause, we now have ways to balance a woman’s hormones, to counteract the hormonal fluctuations that are causing the symptoms in the first place.”
Dr. Abell transitioned into preventive medicine so that he could spend more time with his patients, to thoroughly assess each of their health needs. Dr. Abell incorporates bioidentical hormone therapy with customized wellness regimens that include nutritional, fitness and supplementation strategies. He focuses his expertise primarily on helping women and men overcome health problems oftentimes associated with hormonal imbalance, such as menopause, andropause (the male menopause) and thyroid disorders and implements proven natural therapies to optimize his patients’ health, from the inside, out.
Dr. Abell is Board Certified by the American Board of Anti-Aging Medicine and is also an active member of the Fellowship for Anti-Aging and Regenerative Medicine.
Dr. John Abell graduated cum laude from the University of Louisville Medical School in 1988 and completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Emory University in 1991. He was Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in 1991 and recertified in 2001. Dr. Abell was also Board Certified by the American Board of Anti-Aging in 2008.
