Linda Sarpong, PharmD, ABAAHP

My name is Linda Sarpong, a 2001 Doctor of Pharmacy graduate of University of Houston.  I came to Houston (from New York) for pharmacy school and ended up making Houston my home. I am married and have two daughters. I am the owner and CEO of Medrx Compounding and Pharmacy (MCP). I started MCP almost 8 years ago. Prior to opening MCP, I worked as a pediatric staff pharmacist at Memorial Hermann Children’s Hospital at the Texas Medical Center for a little over 9 and half years. Some of my duties at the hospital included representing the department as a Patient Safety Office, double checking pediatric orders, making drug interventions, and checking all compounded medications. I also served as a preceptor for pharmacy students from the University of Houston and was also responsible for updating the hospital’s compounded medication formulations. The latter responsibility cemented my existing interest in compounding. My ideals of specialized patient care spurred me on to open a pharmacy which provides quality individualized care in a community setting. Medrx Compounding & Pharmacy is set up as a hybrid store with emphasis on patient safety and high quality patient care. Among others, one of the things that set us apart from other pharmacies, is our dedicated drug information and patient counseling pharmacist who is committed to counseling patients, answering patients’ questions and concerns. MCP is PCAB accredited (ACHC), and has Ccert Certification through PersonalMed. Our specialties include but not limited to pediatrics, dermatology, orthopedic, ophthalmology, bio-identical hormone replacement therapy, rheumatology, podiatry and over all wellness. I recently passed the ABAAHP examination offered by A4M, and I am looking forward to using the knowledge I have acquired to serve my patients. Currently, I serve as a preceptor for University of Buffalo College of Pharmacy students and is actively involved in various civic duties in Houston.
