Q1– Before joining A4M, what was your medical background?

Dr. Wharton received his undergraduate from West Virginia University in 1976. After completing his Doctorate of Medicine at Marshall University School of Medicine in 1981, he went on to fulfill his Residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the State University of New York at Buffalo, where he received the Vincent Capraro Award for Academic and Clinical Excellence in 1985.

Dr. Wharton served as President of the Pittsburgh Obstetrical and Gynecological Society from 2007-2008 and is an active member in several professional organizations and medical societies, including the American College of Anti-Aging and Regenerative Medicine, the International Peptide Society, the Pennsylvania Medical Society and the Allegheny County Medical Society.

Q2– What anti-aging techniques have you incorporated into your practice? And how did you so?

The Keystone to my approach to patients is Bioidentical Hormonal Replacement Therapy, followed by Anti-Aging and Regenerative Medicine. Once my patients are hormonally balanced, they have an increase in energy and motivation. They are then able to embrace their Anti-Aging and Regenerative Medicine goals.

Q3– What are the benefits of practicing anti-aging medicine? (as a professional, and for your practice?)

The primary benefit is that Anti-Aging and Regenerative Medicine physicians have many tools in their armamentarium that conventional physicians do not. I can call upon my experience from the Metabolic Code Fellowship for the treatment of many chronic medical conditions. The fellowship in Stem Cell Therapies heightened my awareness of healing at the cellular level which is critical to any phase of Anti-Aging and Regenerative Medicine. This phenomenal background provides me with the skill and knowledge that when applied, can help the patient to meet their goals for optimal health.

Q4– What are the changes you see in your patients?

The most impressive change is the boost in their energy, focus, and motivation which comes with the hormonal balancing. Next the patients develop an awareness of how poorly they have felt in the past and, this actually motivates them to take the next step of their journey to optimal health.

Q5– Why would you recommend Anti-Aging Medicine to your peers?

The antiaging medicine courses through a 4M provide an amazing review of the basic sciences. If a physician wants to provide his patients with the best care, then Anti-Aging Medicine will widen and deepen his toolkit.

Q6– Where do you see the future of Anti-Aging medicine 20 years from now?

That’s an amazing question! As I move into my 40th year in the practice of medicine I think the biggest advances will be made in the arena of patient longevity. I would be great to see a collaboration between the Primary Care Physician and the Anti-Aging and Regenerative Medicine physician with both working together as a team. The Anti-Aging and Regenerative Medicine physician will guide these patients so they can be more active and engaged during their extended longevity. In this instance the patient can literally live longer, better.
