Dr. Joseph Maroon is Professor and Vice Chairman of the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. He is the consultant neurosurgeon for the Pittsburgh Steelers and 8 time Hawaiin Ironman Championship Triathlete. His research interests include the development of minimally invasive surgical procedures for the brain, orbit and spine; traumatic brain injuries; and diseases related to aging. Presently is involved with clinical trials with novel immunotherapeutic approach to cancer and new diagnostic and therapeutic approach for Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and chronic traumatic encephalopathy.
