Anthony Clavo, MD
Anthony T. Clavo, MD, RPh is the newest member of the SCA family; an Interventionalist focusing on the management of Spine and Orthopedic pathologies, creating a dynamic synergy with the Orthopedic Spine Surgeons here at SpineCenterAtlanta. In addition, as the Medical Director of SpineCenterConyers, Dr. Clavo holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Xavier University of Louisiana in Pharmacy (Cum Laude); a Medical Degree from Meharry Medical College in Nashville,Tennessee; an Internship at the Methodist Medical Center-Dallas; a Residency degree in both Anesthesiology and Acute & Chronic Pain Management from the University of Texas Southwestern-Dallas; and a Fellowship in Acute and Chronic Pain Management from the Renown Roosevelt/John Bonica, MD Multidisciplinary Pain Center at the University of Washington-Seattle.
Dr. Clavo trained under the Guidance of Jackie Martin, MD at Johns Hopkins University with a focus on Cardiovascular Anesthesiology and the University of Tennessee-Memphis Elvis Presley Trauma Center with an emphasis on Trauma Anesthesiology.
As a diplomat of the American Board of Anesthesiology, Dr. Clavo holds a certification in his sub-specialty, Interventional Orthopedic related procedures and pain management. Although not actively practicing pharmaceutical care, Dr. Clavo still holds his certification by the American Board of Pharmacy. He proudly received the Michio Watanabe Academic Scholarship Award while at Meharry Medical College. He received recognition in the renowned Who’s Who publication, and graduated with Honors in Pharmacology while at Meharry.
With a strong belief in sharing his medical knowledge and experience, Dr. Clavo participates in training with current residents and fellows at Morehouse Medical College and Emory University.
Dr. Clavo has spent the last 18 years providing care to patients in the Metro Atlanta region including Fulton, Fayette and Rockdale counties by providing multidisciplinary care to those suffering orthopedic and neurological pain related disorders. He has previously practiced at Southern Spine and Pain/Laginappe Surgical Center and Piedmont Hospitals Pain Consultants of Atlanta. In addition to practicing at the SCA and SCC locations, Dr. Clavo has clinical privileges at Piedmont Henry Medical Center and Wellstar Medical Center’s Midtown and South Atlanta Medical Centers.
He enjoys providing Interventional therapies for patients including Neuro-Augmentation/Spinal Cord Stimulation, Radio-frequency Ablation/Rhizotomies, Epidural Steroid injections, Diagnostic and Therapeutic Nerve Blocks, Joint, Soft Tissue Injections (Trigger Point injections, etc.) and Stem Cell Therapy.
