Description

Anna Fleytman-Pope, DO, began exploring integrative medicine after practicing as an ER physician for over a decade. While she heard and treated her patients’ complaints, she couldn’t fully help them without the time and space to explore the entire story behind the symptoms. Dr. Fleytman-Pope states, “In the last century, we have taken the human out of the being. Western medicine has produced systems-based physicians who have completely deviated from treating The Whole Human. We follow protocols produced by corporations with financial gains. While there is a place for that for some patients, most suffer as they become part of the process. We are individuals, so healthcare should not be a one-size-fits-all approach.”

Dr. Fleytman-Pope joined the Opt Health team after meeting one of our physicians at a local farmer’s market. In the middle of an integrative medicine fellowship and looking for her next career move, the Opt Health mission of a 360-degree approach to health resonated with her. “Opt Health gives physicians like me time and freedom to truly help. It’s about diving deep into the person in front of you as a way of treatment. It’s about patients having more control, getting to know themselves, and being kind to their bodies. The ultimate goal is to establish a genuine symbiotic doctor-patient relationship that is rewarding for all,” says Dr. Fleytman-Pope.

Dr. Fleytman-Pope’s goal for Opt Health is to empower patients to look within and help them feel like their best selves by learning to listen and care for their bodies as nature intended. All this is possible with more individualized practices in conjunction with modern medicine.

Dr. Fleytman-Pope is board-certified in emergency medicine and a fellow of integrative medicine. She studied at Michigan State University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine and the University of Arizona’s Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine. She enjoys reading, staying active, and exploring cultures through food with her husband and four boys in her spare time. As she puts it, “Living is not just about existing, but about having the full experience, which is why good health is so essential.”
