Dr. Clearfield graduated from the College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery, now Des Moines University, in 1978. He internal at Metropolitan Hospital in downtown Philadelphia and followed that up with a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Family Medicine.
