I have been in private practice for 20 years. After completing my undergraduate degree in pre-med at LaSalle College, I received my Osteopathic Medical degree at the University of Health Sciences in Kansas City. I completed my internship and residency at the University of North Texas in Dallas, then joined the staff as an Associate Professor teaching Family Practice Residents.
My osteopathic medical training was the foundation, which taught me how to evaluate the entire person, with medically and structurally. Starting out, I practiced traditional medicine; listen to the patient's story and wrote them a prescription. Many of the patients never seemed to get better. I was treating the symptoms not their underlying illness.
After completing my fellowship training in Metabolic, Nutritional and Functional Medicine, I continue caring for my patients armed with the most current and relevant information in the prevention and treatment of chronic illness and disease. I have transitioned from treating patients with lifelong drugs to healing them from the progression of underlying disease.
Now when patients come to my office, I evaluate their symptoms, review lab values, and search for clues and causes of their illness. Once they are feeling better, I transition my focus to keeping them healthy by looking at the full potential of the body's natural healing resources to maximize their quality of life.
After completing the fellowship, I can proudly say our emphasis is on vitality and restoring the natural balance of the human body.
