This module is dedicated to understanding several key aspects to arguably the most important lifestyle habits that people need to engage in to maintain health and vitality as they are aging – successful diet and exercise programming. Strategies will be explored in dietary nutrition, training and supplementation that can be applied for everyone from the unfit and overweight beginner to the overstrained athlete, with an emphasis on how to lower risks for injury, loss of lean mass and risks of overtraining.
All of the lecture material will be reinforced with active learning techniques such as case studies, active participation in exercise prescription, using a glucometer for managing weight and identifying food tolerance along with visual learning experiences with food and diet and label guidelines and hand-outs for how to count carbs for the average person.
