Jeffrey Widmeyer, MD
Description
Dr. Widmeyer is Lynchburg’s only board-certified vascular surgeon specializing in vein care. Over his 20 years of medical practice, he has successfully treated thousands of people with vascular problems, including spider veins, varicose veins and venous stasis ulcers. Dr. Widmeyer helped introduce Lynchburg to the most modern vein therapies, and was the first specialist to use the high-tech EVLT procedure.
Dr. Widmeyer is an active member of his community, involved in his church and enjoys the outdoors as a hunter. He is also an obstacle course racer. Dr. Widmeyer has worked with World Medical Mission and has traveled to Kenya and Niger to perform surgery in mission hospitals. He also served as a civilian volunteer vascular surgeon at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany, treating injured soldiers from Iraq and Afghanistan. Most recently, Dr. Widmeyer went to Puerto Rico to provide surgical services to the poor affected by Hurricane Maria.
Trained at the University of Virginia and Medical College of Virginia, Dr. Widmeyer is a member of the American College of Phlebology, Peripheral Vascular Surgery Society and Medical Society of Virginia. In addition to vascular surgery, he is board certified in general surgery, and a diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine.
