Course Description

Introduction to Anti-Aging Medicine is a one-day workshop created for health practitioners and professionals, designed to provide introductory hormone information and options for more successful patient outcomes. This symposium is optimal for those new to the field of anti-aging medicine, and those eager to learn more about the rapidly emerging field.

Join Dr. Pamela Smith and Dr. Filomena Trindade, two thought-leaders and experts in the field who will present on the hormonal endocrine system and introductory principles of hormone replacement therapy—in addition to practices and protocols developed to make prescribing hormones and compounding medications easier. Lecturers will deliver clinical content, patient case studies, and the ways in which they have become successful in integrating and implementing hormone therapy into their respective practices. The comprehensive agenda will further focus on topics ranging from estrogen dominance, thyroid disorders, male hormones, and multiple evaluations of female hormone balance.

Pamela Wartian Smith, M.D., MPH, MS spent her first twenty years of practice as an emergency room physician with the Detroit Medical Center and then the next twenty years as an Anti-Aging/Functional Medicine specialist. She is a diplomat of the Board of the American Academy of Anti-Aging Physicians and is an internationally known speaker and author on the subject of Metabolic, Anti-Aging and Functional Medicine. She also holds a Master’s in Public Health Degree along with a Master’s Degree in Metabolic and Nutritional Medicine. She has been featured on CNN, PBS, and many other television networks, has been interviewed in numerous consumer magazines, and has hosted two of her own radio shows. She is a regular contributor for Fox News Radio. Dr. Smith is currently the Director of the Center for Personalized Medicine and the founder of The Fellowship in Anti-Aging, Regenerative, and Functional Medicine. Dr. Smith is also the co-director of the Master’s Program in Metabolic and Nutritional Medicine at the Morsani College of Medicine, University of South Florida. In addition, she is the Director of Medical Education for the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine. She is the author of the best-selling books, “HRT: The Answers,” “Vitamins Hype or Hope,” “Demystifying Weight Loss,” “What You Must Know About Vitamins, Minerals, Herbs & More,” “What You Must Know about Women’s Hormones,” “Why You Can’t Lose Weight.,” and “What You Must Know About Memory Loss and How You Can Stop It,” “What You Must Know About Thyroid Disorders,” and “What You Must Know About Allergy Relief,” of which she is a co-author. Her newest book: “What You Must Know About Autoimmune Diseases,” is scheduled to come out this fall.

Filomena Trindade

Filomena Trindade,
MD, MPH

Filomena Trindade, MD, MPH, AAARM, ABFM is a teacher, author, and international speaker in functional medicine. She is a graduate of the fellowship in Anti-Aging, Regenerative and Functional Medicine and teaches in the Fellowship (a master’s program through the Morsani School of Medicine, University of South Florida). In addition she is faculty at the Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM). After obtaining her BA degree in Biology she went on to finish a master’s in Public Health in the area of environmental health and epidemiology before starting medical school. She graduated first in her class in family practice from the University of California Davis School of Medicine and did her residency training in family practice at the U.C. San Francisco/Santa Rosa Program. She has been in clinical practice for over 20 years. Before starting her own private practice in 2004 in functional medicine she was the medical director of a non-profit organization that catered to the underserved. Her work has been published in Townsend Letter, Guide to Anti-Aging & Regenerative Medicine, Saúde Actual, and the Border Health Journal among others.
