Ingeborg Dziedzic received her M.D degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 1979, the same year her first son was born. She interned in pediatrics but her interest in Ophthalmology sprung from previous research in causes and treatments of central retinal artery occlusion that partially blinded her father. Dr. Dziedzic started her ophthalmology practice in Westchester County NY in 1984. In 1990’s the epidemic of Lyme disease in her area prompted her to look for better solutions and to study Lyme disease, which turned out to be as varied and complicated as Syphilis in its day. Her efforts brought about worldwide referrals.
As a cataract surgeon using multifocal IOLs correcting presbyopia , she noticed that female patients need “cheaters” for reading within two years of menopause. This suggested a common causality and possibility of prevention. Viewing healthy aging as a choice Dr. Ingeborg Dziedzic together with her husband Dr. John Dziedzic, opened Obecano, an integrative and preventative practice in 2011 after obtaining ABAARM from University of Southern Florida.
