Gregory F. Daniel, MD, MBA
Physician | Entrepreneur | Visionary in Regenerative and Preventive Health
Dr. Gregory F. Daniel is a board-certified emergency medicine physician, healthcare executive, and founder of Kanaka Partners and FOCUS Medicine. With more than 25 years of experience at the intersection of clinical practice, business innovation, and real estate development, Dr. Daniel has built a career on one guiding principle: health should be accessible, sustainable, and forward-thinking.
A graduate of the University of Wisconsin–Madison (BS Biochemistry, MD), Dr. Daniel completed surgical residency at SUNY and later earned his MBA from the University of California, Irvine, where he was elected Class Leader of the Healthcare Executive MBA program. His academic journey laid the foundation for a career that bridges high-acuity clinical care with large-scale systems innovation.
In 2000, Dr. Daniel founded Buffalo Emergency Associates, which evolved into The Exigence Group—a nationally recognized physician staffing and management company. As CEO, he led its expansion into multiple service lines including urgent care, hospitalist programs, and occupational medicine. In 2012, the company was acquired by TeamHealth, where Dr. Daniel was appointed President of its Urgent Care and Occupational Medicine Division. There, he managed strategy, operations, and growth across nearly 1,000 affiliated professionals and 860 client sites nationwide.
Currently, Dr. Daniel leads FOCUS Medicine, a “Blue Zone”-aligned longevity clinic emphasizing regenerative, metabolic, and personalized medicine. Through this work, he has spearheaded clinical programs focused on peptide therapy, hormone optimization, and wearable-based health tracking. Dr. Daniel believes that proactive medicine—not reactive care—is the key to reversing the trajectory of chronic disease and aging.
Outside of clinical ventures, Dr. Daniel manages a $90M+ real estate development portfolio through Kanaka Partners and Nidus Development. His projects span healthcare campuses, affordable housing, and historical preservation efforts—such as the $42M renovation of Buffalo’s iconic Pierce Arrow building and the revitalization of the Historic Colored Musicians Club.
Dr. Daniel also serves on the Board of Directors for Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center and chairs the Nyamekye Foundation, a philanthropic organization that has donated over $1M to underserved communities. His honors include repeated placement on the Buffalo Business First Power 100 list, the Community Leadership in Healthcare Award by the NFJC, and Minority Business of the Year by the Buffalo Niagara Partnership.
A former flight surgeon with the U.S. Air Force Reserves, Dr. Daniel brings a disciplined, mission-driven ethos to all his ventures. Whether leading medical teams, building health-integrated communities, or guiding patients toward optimal aging, his commitment remains clear: advance healthspan as boldly as we once pursued lifespan.
