Bioidentical hormones are hormones that have exactly the same chemical and molecular structure as hormones that are produced in the human body. "Bioidentical" hormones have been promoted as safer and more effective than FDA-approved hormones.
These hormones are made in the laboratory by compounding pharmacies who mix their own formulas of bioidentical hormones, at customized dosage for each patient. They are increasingly being used for relieving menopause symptoms and other common female wellbeing disorders across the lifespan.
