Theodore Friedman, MD, PhD

Theodore C. Friedman, M.D., Ph.D. is a Professor of Medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, where he also serves as Vice-Chairman of the Department of Internal Medicine. At Charles R. Drew University, he is a Professor of Medicine, as well as Chairman of the Department of Internal Medicine and Chief of the Division of Endocrinology, Molecular Medicine, and Metabolism. He is also an endowed professor in Cardio-Metabolic Diseases at CDU and Chief in the Division of Endocrinology at Martin Luther King, Jr. Multi-Service, Outpatient Center (MLK-OC), where he sees patients in endocrine and diabetes clinics. He runs an obesity group visit program in which his team educates and motivates about 50 obese patients in a group setting. In addition to writing over 130 papers in peer-review journals, Dr. Friedman has written chapters on thyroid and adrenal for the well-known textbook, Cecil Essentials of Medicine as well as a book for the lay public, The Everything Health Guide to Thyroid Disease. Dr. Friedman is the chair of the LA County DHS Endocrinology-primary care work group. Dr. Friedman also has a private practice where he sees patients with hard-to-treat thyroid, pituitary and adrenal problems from across the country.
