I have been a nurse since 1995 with a background in telemetry and ICU for 10 years before I became a family nurse practitioner. I graduated from NIU with my Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) in December 2004. I completed my Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in May 2014 from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville. I worked at Centegra/Northwestern for 21 years in various roles as an ICU nurse, primary care provider in adult internal medicine, and medical director of a medical weight loss program. I have been working in this community taking care of individual’s health needs in McHenry County, IL for a long time.
Over my years of practice, I developed a true passion for health and optimizing wellness which led me to achieve a second Master of Science in Integrative Medicine from George Washington University, Washington, D.C. in December 2017. I completed my fellowship with the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine and am a certified member of the American Board of Anti-Aging Health Practitioners. Additionally, in 2020 I completed my certification in homeopathy through the Center for Education and Development of Homeopathy (CEDH).
The goal as a functional medicine provider is to find the root cause of the patient’s symptoms by developing an in depth understanding of their individual health journey and investigating their current symptoms to understand the cause, not just treat the expressed symptoms. I have been working in functional medicine for the past three years and specialize in:
