Susan Sparkman, MD, FAARFM, FAAP

A native Texan, Dr. Susan Sparkman is not your conventional psychiatrist. She practiced ambulatory pediatrics for 16 years before training in Adult and Child/Adolescent Psychiatry and Psychoanalysis. She is a Fellow in the American Academy of Pediatrics. Psychiatric evaluations include extensive medical/lab assessments before initiating evaluation and therapy. Psychiatric treatment is guided by pretreatment evaluation where appropriate. Follow up assessments are not quick checkups but are directed by results of interventions determined by earlier assessments.

Dr. Sparkman is attuned to medical conditions that both impact and mimic psychiatric illness. She uses the "Bio-Psycho-Social_Spiritual" model as a guidepost for evaluations and recommendations.

She was among the first psychiatrists in Texas to offer rTMS treatment for major depression. Certification in Clinical Homeopathy added helpful treatment. She is a Fellow in the A4M/Medical Metabolic Institute/Cardiometabolic Health Institute. Dr. Sparkman has certification in Metabolic Cardiovascular Health. Alternative and nutritional methods of healing have led her to explore a variety of approaches in treating patients of all ages. Dr. Sparkman has been a Texas Top Doctor in Psychiatry annually since 2013.
