Dr. Simon Idris Beshir is a distinguished interventional cardiologist based in Windhoek, Namibia. He currently serves as Consultant Interventional Cardiologist and Head of Adult Cardiac Services at the Sacred Heart Cardiac Centre, located within the Roman Catholic Hospital. Since relocating to Namibia in 2012, Dr. Beshir has played a pivotal role in transforming the nation’s cardiac care landscape.
A graduate of Charles University in Prague (MD, 1990), he specialized in internal medicine and cardiology, earning board certifications in 2000 and 2005 respectively. His commitment to excellence earned him fellowships with the European Society of Cardiology (FESC, 2007), the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow (FRCP, 2009), and the American College of Cardiology (FACC, 2012).
Dr. Beshir’s international experience spans across Africa and Europe, with senior roles at Princess Marina Hospital (Botswana), The Cardiac Centre (Nigeria), and Kings Mill Hospital (UK). In Namibia, he performs over 1,500 cardiac procedures annually and manages more than 4,000 outpatient consultations per year. His leadership has significantly reduced the need for Namibians to seek cardiac procedures abroad.
