Dr. Pete Olsen is a visionary physician, educator, and leader committed to transforming the future of medicine through a functional and longevity-based approach. As Chief Executive Officer of Olsen M.D. Functional Clinic in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, Dr. Olsen integrates advanced diagnostics, precision nutrition, hormone optimization, and lifestyle medicine to help patients achieve peak performance, vitality, and long-term wellness. His mission is to empower individuals to reclaim their health through personalized, root-cause medical care.
Dr. Olsen graduated with honors in Biology and high honors in Religion from St. Olaf College in 2002, where he first cultivated his passion for global health and purpose-driven service. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Minnesota Medical School and completed the Duluth Family Medicine Residency Program in 2013, a program nationally recognized for its focus on rural and full-spectrum care.
He began his career in emergency medicine, quickly distinguishing himself as Trauma Medical Director at Cloquet Community Memorial Hospital. In this role, he expanded critical care services, implemented evidence-based trauma protocols, and became known for his ability to teach and inspire other clinicians. His expertise as an educator led to statewide training opportunities and, in 2015, to a U.S. State Department assignment training United States Embassy Physicians abroad through the Comprehensive Advanced Life Support (CALS) program.
Motivated by his lifelong calling to medical missions, Dr. Olsen and his wife, Angela, served from 2014–2018 as full-time medical missionaries in Kenya with World Gospel Mission. At Tenwek Mission Hospital, he led the Inpatient Pediatrics and NICU departments while covering internal medicine, obstetrics, and surgical obstetrics. As faculty for the Kabarak University Family Medicine Residency Program, he played a formative role in training the next generation of East African physicians and advancing standards of compassionate, high-quality care.
Following his return to the United States, Dr. Olsen resumed work in rural emergency departments while continuing to teach CALS courses nationwide. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he was appointed Vice President of Medical Affairs at M Health Fairview Range Hospital, where he led operational strategy and quality improvement initiatives during one of the most demanding public health crises of modern times.
In 2020, Dr. Olsen relocated with his family to Northeast Florida to support specialized education for his son, Sam, who has Down Syndrome. There he founded Olsen M.D. Functional Clinic, dedicated to the science of health optimization and longevity. His clinical philosophy blends evidence-based medicine with innovative, patient-centered care that addresses the root causes of disease—rather than simply managing symptoms.
Today, Dr. Olsen’s leadership and teaching continue to inspire both patients and peers. Through his involvement in the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M) and the Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM), he remains at the forefront of a movement redefining healthcare as a proactive, data-driven pursuit of optimal human potential.
Dr. Olsen’s vision is clear: to help every patient live with clarity of purpose, resilience, and vitality—proving that true health is not merely the absence of disease, but the realization of one’s highest potential.
