Description

With the continuing rise of opiate overdoses and the increasingly devastating toll of the opioid epidemic, faculty member Dr. Sahar Swidan has created our newest module focused on pain management, addiction, and medical marijuana. With over two decades of experience in chronic pain management and neurology, Dr. Swidan is committed to teaching healthcare professionals more physiological ways to handle root causes of pain, coupled with non-opioid treatment options. The national public health opioid epidemic not only impacts patients, but also practitioners—necessitating alternative ways to practice and manage chronic pain. The module will further focus on newer advances in treatment practices of the pain patient’s neuro-endocrine-immune dysfunction, the roles of ketamine and oxytocin in pain management, myofascial components and the concept of tensegrity, advances in fibromyalgia treatment and other total body syndromes, current clinical research regarding detox strategies, and the applications of medical marijuana and the endocannabinoid system. Dr. Swidan and a faculty including other expert educators in the field will concentrate on providing attendees with the most current clinical advances in addiction medicine, while demonstrating the necessity of individualized & personalized treatments.
