Revolutionizing traditional pain management practices with her incorporation of functional and regenerative medicine, Dr. Laura Baker is the driving force behind Parthenon Medical and Behavioral Center. Her diverse medical career started with fellowships in advanced clinical anesthesia, which led to long-term practices in Hartford, Middletown, and Newhaven, Connecticut. Her specialty in both adult and pediatric ambulatory anesthesia quickly made her a recognizable figure throughout the state.
Always looking to find better ways to serve her patients and expand her scope of practice, Dr. Baker entered a post-doctoral fellowship at Yale University. She not only focused on expanding her knowledge of departmental anesthesia, but also rotated through rounds of neurosurgery, and cardiac, trauma and pediatric surgery. The fellowship led to a full-time teaching position at Yale, where she instructed residents in clinical anesthesia.
Dr. Baker left her staff position at Yale to further her hospital experience at Shands, advancing her skills in regional anesthesia techniques such as orthopedic nerve blocks. After a stint with the Health South Surgery Center in St. Augustine, Fla., Dr. Baker took her talents to Tampa Bay, completing her fellowship with the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine – achieving diplomatic status and she developed Parthenon Medical and Behavioral Center, one of the area’s most progressive pain management centers.
