Joel Heidelbaugh, MD

Joel Heidelbaugh, MD, is a Clinical Professor in the Departments of Family Medicine and Urology at the University of Michigan Medical School. He graduated from the Upsate Medical University in Syracuse, New York in 1996 and completed his family medicine residency at St. Josephs’ Hospital Health Center in Syracuse, in 1999. He is the medical student clerkship director in the Department of Family Medicine and is active in pre-doctoral education at the University of Michigan Medical School. Dr. Heidelbaugh’s clinical interests include preventative men’s health and wellness, non-surgical urology and sexual medicine, treatment of gastrointestinal diseases including functional disorders, and full-spectrum family medicine. He is the creator, editor, and co-author of the only evidence-based textbook on men’s health, Clinical Men’s Health: Evidence in Practice. Dr. Heidelbaugh is the consulting editor of Primary Care Clinics in Office Practice and serves on the editorial boards for the Journal of Men’s Health (International Society of Men’s Health Journal) and the American Journal of Men’s Health. He has authored over 60 manuscripts and chapters in peer-reviewed journals and textbooks.
