Description

Dr. Ian Yamane has spent more than 30 years answering the question most medicine skips — not what is wrong, but why. As a functional medicine and cognitive health specialist, he has helped patients untangle chronic, complex conditions that years of conventional care left unresolved.

The question is personal. Growing up in a small community in San Diego County, he watched his mother spend more than two decades debilitated by illness — bedridden, weighed down by an ever-growing list of prescriptions, moving from one top specialist to the next without ever finding lasting relief. He watched his father carry work, family, and caregiving all at once. The lesson stayed with him: managing symptoms is not the same as healing a person, and the distance between the two is closed by finding the root cause. That conviction became his life's work.

He graduated with honors from Palmer College in 1993 and spent the next three decades building Valhalla into the multi-specialty integrative practice it is today. As founder, he still personally consults with new patients at both the Las Vegas and Henderson locations, and via telehealth with patients across the country.

That work is backed by some of the most demanding training in the field. Dr. Yamane is a Functional Medicine Certified Practitioner (FMCP) — among the most advanced certifications in functional medicine — having completed IFM Advanced Practice Modules across all six specialty areas: Cardiometabolic Health, Hormone Health, Energy and Mitochondrial Function, Gastrointestinal Health, Detoxification, and Immune System Health. He is ReCODE 2.0 Certified in Dr. Dale Bredesen's protocol for preventing and slowing cognitive decline, with additional advanced training in Mild Cognitive Impairment and Alzheimer's disease through AHNP Precision Health. And he holds the Shoemaker Proficiency Partner Diplomate (CIRS) — earned through in-depth coursework and a diplomate-level examination — qualifying him to diagnose and treat Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome from mold, biotoxin, and environmental exposure using the validated Shoemaker Protocol.

His training also includes further functional medicine certification through Functional Medicine University, diplomate-eligibility in nutrition through the American Clinical Board of Nutrition (ACBN), and certifications in Functional Blood Chemistry Analysis, Mastering the Thyroid, Mastering Brain Chemistry, and Functional Endocrinology. He is the author of two books — Time Is Tissue: A Whole System Approach to Reversing Cognitive Decline and The Diabetes Solution: Addressing the Root Cause.

Outside the practice, Dr. Yamane and his wife Deborah have four children and seven grandchildren, and are active in their church and community in Las Vegas.
