I am a primary care physician, practicing in Southern California for approximately 30 years. I completed my training in Internal Medicine and specialized in Gastrointestinal Disorders in Mexico City, prior to taking up residency in California. I acquired additional training in Family Medicine in Southern California. I was a founding member of Pioneer Medical Group; a large multispecialty group in Los Angeles. I practiced family medicine and served as medical director for the South Gate clinic for approximately 10 years. I was an elected member of the board of directors for 8 years.
For many years I practiced family medicine, conventional medicine, as the majority of doctors do, exchanging symptoms for a prescription. In conventional medicine we have been told that the majority of chronic diseases (Diabetes, Hypertension, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Ulcerative colitis, Parkinson’s disease, etc.) have no cure, because the cause is unknown, so conventional treatment is to prescribe medication to control the symptoms. The medical system is structured to allow the physicians and patients only 15 minutes for a visit and in some cases only 10 minutes. It is impossible to evaluate a medical condition in 10-15 minutes which causes severe stress to the doctors. The next step would be to order laboratory tests, write a prescription and “move on”. Sadly I did that for many years and I witnessed the deterioration of my patient’s health; after all, it is “the standard of care”. In many instances the patients were referred to a specialist who would prescribe even more dangerous medication, often without much success.
After many years of practicing this way, I asked myself, is this the only way? Is this the best medical care a health professional can offer? I began researching alternative ways to help my patients heal without medication.
