Description

I’m Dr. David Geier - triple board-certified orthopedic surgeon, sports medicine specialist, and anti-aging and regenerative medicine expert. I help athletes and active people feel, look and perform your best, regardless of age or injury.

I'm also the passionate communicator behind one of the top platforms for orthopedic and sports injury education on the internet. My true passion is helping people understand their bodies — so they can stop getting hurt, and bounce back when they do.

I hold a board certification from the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery in Orthopaedic Surgery as well as a subspecialty certification in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine.

After spending eight years serving as Director of Sports Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina, and another eight years serving as Medical Director of Sports Medicine at East Cooper Medical Center outside of Charleston, South Carolina, I left traditional medicine and orthopedic surgery to join an anti-aging practice, practicing what I have termed "anti-aging orthopedics." I

obtained my third board certification in anti-aging and regenerative medicine from The American Board of Anti-Aging and Regenerative Medicine. I also earned a certification in Peptide Therapy from The American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine.

I recently served as the Communications Council Chair for the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM) Board of Directors. I have previously served as the Chairman of the Public Relations and Publications Committees for AOSSM and as a member of the Sports Medicine Evaluation committee for the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. I have served on the Outreach committee for the STOP Sports Injuries campaign and currently sit on the Medical Aspects of Sports committee for the South Carolina Medical Association. I am a member of The American Academy of Anti- Aging Medicine, The International Peptide Society and Clinical Peptide Society.

My book, That's Gotta Hurt: The Injuries That Changed Sports Forever, was published in June 2017 and is available in bookstores everywhere. I delivered a TEDx talk in May 2017 entitled Our Future You[th]: How Exercising Restraint Could Save America’s Young Athletes. I wrote a regular sports medicine column for the daily Charleston newspaper, The Post and Courier, for 12 years, and my column was one of the top three most-read columns in the entire newspaper. And I frequently deliver keynote speeches for medical and business organizations on leadership, burnout, and personal excellence.

I am the Chief Medical Expert for ABC News 4 and FOX 24 in Charleston, South Carolina. I have done well over 3,000 interviews for television, radio, magazine, newspaper and online media. Some of the publications in which my interviews have appeared include USA Today, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, ESPN, Sports Illustrated, NBC News/Today Show Health, CNN, FOX News, ABC News, Health, Men’s Health, Women’s Health, Men’s Fitness, Men’s Journal, Prevention, Livestrong, SELF, Real Simple, and many more. In 2013, I was awarded the Jupiter Award for Individual Excellence in Public Relations, Communications and Social Media by the South Carolina Public Relations Society of America.
