Inspired by wonderful functional medicine doctors and frustrated with the traditional model of medicine, I stepped out of traditional family medicine and ER to discover the world of finding the root causes of medical problems. Having a background in family medicine of 20 years was about the best lead in towards learniing how to restore health and regeneration rather than focus on disease. As I tell others, practicing functional medicine FORCES you to become a general medicine provider as you have to see the patient holistically and fit all the systems of the human body together regardless of your specialty. I owned and operated the St Louis, MO franchise of Bodylogicmd for 10 years which was a good learning experience. Now I’m growing my own clinic Health By Design MD (named because of my architect side) and adding as much cutting edge technology as possible. This paradigm along with the freedom to care for the patient unrestricted by the socialist model of insurance based care allows me to LOVE MY WORK. It is energizing and exciting. There’s always fun new science to learn and apply that makes a difference in patient’s lives…..especially when no other provider has been able to help:)
