Hyatt Regency Atlanta, GA
Friday, October 21, 2011 8:00am-6:00pm
Introduction
This course is designed to educate attendees regarding the concept of Metal Toxicity, discussing its prevalence and emphasizing the consequences of its chronic nature. By understanding toxic metals and their disruption of the homeostasis of the body and reviewing the pathophysiology that contributes to the myriad of disease processes participants will be able to diagnose and treat Metal Toxicity. Thus, avoiding the pitfalls involved in these processes.
Objectives
Participants will be able to explain to their patients the need for toxic metals testing and subsequent treatment, incorporating their knowledge of storage locations in the body and the chronic insidious nature of the disease processes. Participants will be familiar with the pharmacokinetics of the major metal binding agents (chelators) and be able to design treatment programs using the protocols for screening for toxic metals and the administration of additional protocols to treat Metal Toxicity. Participants will be made aware of the pitfalls in diagnosing, treating and managing their patients. They will be confident in their abilities and aware of their limitations at this basic level. Participants will be able to begin patient awareness, diagnosing and treating of Metal Toxicity, immediately.
