Dr. Stephanie Mellor is the owner and sole provider at the Integrative Health and Hormone Clinic in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Additionally she has previously taught in the Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) program at the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa. She is certified through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) as both an adult and geriatric nurse practitioner. Mellor received her DNP in the summer 2011. Mellor also holds a MSN (2009) and BSN (2007) from The University of Iowa College of Nursing.

Her capstone doctoral project identified and highlighted new emerging evidence indicating that estrogen metabolism impacts women’s risk for breast cancer. Mellor tests the ratios of estrogen metabolites in her practice and works to intervene as necessary using the nutritional intervention, Diindolylmethane (DIM). Mellor has worked to increase health care provider’s awareness and utilization of this testing and DIM in an effort to promote breast health and reduce breast cancer risk. She disseminated this project at state and national conferences including the Iowa Nurse Practitioner Annual conference fall 2011 and the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners 27th Annual conference in the summer 2012 in Orlando, Florida.

Her additional expertise lies within integrative health, combining conventional medicine with complementary and alternative medicine. She has also received a certification with continence care. She plans to undertake another board examination to become one of the few providers in the state of Iowa certified in anti-aging medicine winter 2012. She currently offers what she feels is the safest and most effective approach to hormone replacement, individualized bio-identical hormone replacement therapy.

She has current monthly publications in Healthy Cells Magazine and tri-annual publications in Living Well Magazine. Mellor believes in empowering her patients through education to take control of their health and lifestyle, ultimately leading to positive outcomes. Mellor values the mind/body/spirit connection and supports a holistic model of care.
