October 16, 2014 (Boca Raton, FL)

October 16, 2014 - One of the world’s leading pioneers in scientific aging research, Alex Zhavoronkov, PhD will join David Katz, MD and J. Craig Venter, PhD as a featured keynote speaker at A4M’s Winter World Congress on Anti-Aging Medicine in Las Vegas, NV on December 10-13, 2014. Dr. Zhavoronkov will speak during the morning general session on December 13th regarding “Solving the World’s Problems Through Regenerative Medicine: Accelerate or Perish”.

The biomedical research community has been delivering hundreds of breakthroughs expected to extend human lifespan beyond thresholds imaginable today. These innovations not only help people live longer lives, but will transform our society, as people become empowered to work and contribute to the economy longer. Dr. Zhavoronkov will provide a high-level view on the progress science has already made, from repairing tissue damage to growing functional organs from a single cell, and illuminate the possibilities that the scientific and medical communities will soon make a reality. He will also share why he believes funds must be redirected to support extending therapies and regenerative medicine to tangibly improve long-term human longevity.

Dr. Zhavoronkov is the director and a trustee of the Biogerontology Research Foundation, a UK-based think tank supporting aging research worldwide, and is the founder of the International Aging Research Portfolio, a curated knowledge management system for aging research. He heads the laboratory of regenerative medicine at the Clinical Research Center for Pediatric Hematology, Oncology and Immunology where his research interests include Hutchinson-Gilford Syndrome, new methods of cellular reprogramming, molecular mechanisms of skin and cartilage regeneration and personalized medicine in oncology. Additionally, Dr. Zhavoronkov is the author of “The Ageless Generation: How Biomedical Advances Will Transform the Global Economy”.

“The contributions to life expectancy gains are blurred by unhealthy behavior and environmental factors. However, in the near future we may see a revolution in longevity. We can either prepare for and accelerate the change to continue stimulating the economy, or run deeper into debt and face the dire consequences”, stated Dr. Zhavoronkov.

This year’s World Congress convenes over 70 leading healthcare professionals, researchers and thought leaders to share scientific and contemporary approaches to lifestyle medicine. The Congress will feature such topics as metabolic syndrome, hormone replacement, diagnostic testing, stress and the immune response, functional neurology, stem cells and aesthetic applications, nutrient strategies, endocrine system, lifestyle factors and lifestyle effects on sex and stress hormones.

About the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine

As a federally registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization, the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M) is the world's largest non-profit scientific society of physicians and scientists dedicated to the advancement of technology to detect, prevent, and treat aging related disease and to promote research into methods to retard and optimize the human aging process.

A4M offers exclusive membership to all medical professionals where they gain access to over two-decades of established medical expertise. We are also dedicated to educating physician and scientists and are proud to be in our 22nd year of providing first-class continuing education conferences on Anti-Aging, Regenerative and Functional Medicine.

To further demonstrate our commitment to the future of medicine, the shared responsibility for patient outcomes and transforming health education through innovation, we offer Board Certifications and Fellowship Training Programs in various disciplines ranging from anti-aging, regenerative and functional medicine to such disciplines as aesthetic medicine, skin cancer and stem cell therapy, in order to lead the industry by establishing best practice standards in these areas.
