October 6, 2014 (Boca Raton, FL)

October 6, 2014 (Boca Raton, FL) – One of the world’s most respected experts in integrative medicine, David Katz, MD, MPH, FACP will be a featured keynote speaker at A4M’s Winter World Congress on Anti-Aging Medicine in Las Vegas, NV on December 11-13, 2014. Due to the overwhelmingly positive reception received by Dr. Katz’s presentation at the Spring World Congress in May, the A4M is excited to welcome back Dr. Katz, along with his knowledge, research and passion for Integrative and Preventive Medicine.

Dr. Katz, a pioneer and advocate for integrative medicine, is the founding director of Yale University’s Prevention Research Center; serves as president of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine; a Board Certified specialist in Preventive Medicine/Public Health; a two-time diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine, and is a clinical instructor in medicine at the Yale School of Medicine.

A prolific writer, Dr. Katz has published twelve books, more than 15 scientific articles and numerous magazines, blog and website posts as well as more than 1,000 newspaper articles. He is also the Editor-in-Chief of the journal Childhood Obesity, founder and President of the non-profit Turn the Tide Foundation, and medical director for the Integrative Medicine Center at Griffin Hospital in Derby, CT.

Widely recognized as a gifted public speaker, Dr. Katz has been acclaimed by peers as the “poet Laureate of health promotion”. He will speak in the general session on the morning of Thursday, December 11th with his keynote presentation, “Integrative Medicine: A Bridge Over Healthcare’s Troubled Waters.”

Integrative medicine, as defined by the American Board of Integrative Medicine® (ABOIM) and the Consortium of Academic Health Centers for Integrative Medicine, is the practice of medicine that reaffirms the importance of the relationship between practitioner and patient, focuses on the whole person, is informed by evidence, and makes use of all appropriate therapeutic approaches, healthcare professionals, and disciplines to achieve optimal health and healing.

Dr. Katz has stated, “Integrative Medicine is a fusion of conventional and alternative treatments that provide patients access to a wider array of option. So, for instance, if medication was ineffective for anxiety or produced intolerable side effects, options such as meditation, biofeedback, or yoga might be explored. If analgesics or anti-inflammatories failed to alleviate joint pain or produced side effects, such options as acupuncture or massage could be explored.”

This year’s world congress convenes over 70 leading healthcare professionals, researchers and thought leaders to share scientific and contemporary approaches to lifestyle medicine on such topics as metabolic syndrome, hormone replacement, diagnostic testing, stress and the immune response, functional neurology, stem cells and aesthetic applications, nutrient strategies, endocrine system, lifestyle factors and lifestyle effects on sex and stress hormones. This landmark event offers attendees the opportunity to connect with elite minds in medicine and research, such as Dr. Katz, and have a greater effectiveness in addressing a wide range of conditions that affect an ever-increasing number of patients around the world.
